Cecilia's first week

I'm trying to get these blog updates closer to real time, but it's gonna take a me a little bit, so please be patient.

The first week was great. Gram stayed with us for the whole week, Lee and Tinsley came back to visit on the weekend. It was a great help for us to have Gram with us for the week. Michelle swears that she would probably be crazy if she had to take care of both of the girls by herself. Michelle also loved spending so much time with her mom. We took this opportunity to take a big pic of the majority of the Smith girls. Time for pics!

Cecilia comes home

So, I'm a little late putting this update on the blog. As you can imagine, life's been a little hectic here. Anyway, it's been a week since Cecilia came home from the hospital. She was great in the car, and fell asleep. A little pic of her in the car, and then with her proud papa.
Rosey was just waiting to see here little sister. Rosey was so excited to see her sister that she tried to hug her in the carseat. Cecilia had a big welcoming party consisting of her Gram, Aunt Lee, Auntie M, and cousin, Tinsley. Everyone was so happy to see her, and Rosey couldn't wait to hold sister 'Cilia. It was great having the family there, as they really helped keep Rosey from getting too excited or worried too much about the baby. Plus, there was a little bit of fun had...

On Monday, Nana and Poppy came down and spent the afternoon getting to know the newest Carpenter.

Here are the pics...

Cecilia's second day

Today was a big day for Cecilia. First of all, she had a pretty good night. She was a little reluctant to let this big new world go so she could sleep. Once we got her settled down (around 2AM), she slept most of the night, minus feedings. This morning, things went well, and Cecilia's color really turned normal, and she became even more beautiful. She got to see some friends and more of the big world. She's also eating, sleeping, peeing, and pooping well.

The biggest part of her day was when she met her big sister Rosey. Lee Anne and Martha brought Rosey and Tinsley in to see us and the baby. Rosey is a wonderful big sister! She was very happy to see her little sister and wanted to give her hugs and kisses. She even tried to give Cecilia her baby doll. It was very nice. We think things will go well when we get home tomorrow.
Michelle is recovering well, just a little bit of nausea. We're all looking forward to getting home. Now it's time for some pics from today's visits.

Our family grows by 1

As some of you already know, our family size increased by one today. Cecilia Grace Carpenter was born at 4:06PM on September 26, 2008. She is beautiful, healthy, and huge blessing. She weighed 7lb 15oz at birth and was 21" long. She's looks a lot like her big sister Rosey did when she was born, the big round face and even some of the same little birthmarks on her face.

Michelle was amazing during the labor. Everything went smoothly, and Michelle is recovering nicely. Now it's time for family sleep. We'll try to update tomorrow, with more pics and maybe a quick little video of our newest little angel. Thank everyone for their prayers and we can't wait for all of you to meet little Cecilia.

Baby 2 is on the way.

As many of you may know, we've had a pretty exciting few days. Michelle started having contractions Tuesday evening, but they were irregular and not very strong. Wednesday morning, Michelle's contractions were more regular and every 3-4 minutes. So, we loaded Rosey up in the car, dropped her off at our friend Robyn's , and headed to the hospital. After we got "checked in" they hooked her up to the contraction monitors, and watched for a few minutes. The nurse checked Michelle and said, "Go home, we hope to see you in here later today." So, we headed to pick up Rosey, and that's where we are now.

Keep checking back, and we'll keep updating this. It could be any day now, or it could be a week.

Baby Carpenter's Debut

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's official, we're having a gummi bear! Michelle went the OB/GYN on Wednesday and they did a quick ultrasound to hear/see the heartbeat. They printed out some pictures and we're putting them up on the web for everyone else to see. And, no, you can't tell if it's a boy or a girl. We are going to wait until the baby is born before we find out the sex of the baby. We're also going to call this one baby, no minnow or anything like that. We're hoping that will help Rosey understand what's going on. Now, we're just praying for a healthy baby and trying to decide on a name, wish us luck!

Our trip to Charleston for Marc & Eva's wedding

Last weekend we went to Charleston for only the second time since Rosey was born. We had a blast. Kevin, Lauren, and Millie were gracious enough to let us invade their home for the weekend. They even helped to addict David to Guitar Hero. Rosey got to see some of the big sights in Charleston, although we're not so sure that she appreciated them all...

Marc and Eva's wedding was beautiful. They followed it up with a great reception. We got to see a bunch of our Bosch friends and the party was rocking. Rosey loved dancing. We have a small video below and one on Youtube, but it only is a sampling of the fun we had. Pictures from the weekend can be seen here. We can't wait to go back, hopefully near the end of spring/beginning of summer. Hope to see all of the Charleston people then, we'll keep you posted.

Saying Good-Bye to Big Blue

It's hard to say good-bye to an old friend, but this weekend we did just that. We had to let "Big Blue" go. We'd had a lot of good times and plenty of good service out of the old truck, but it's time to move on to a new owner. Guess tailgating will be a little different in the future. That's enough getting all teary-eyed and waxing poetic about the truck. Our last moments together are documented complete with digital red-eye reduction for posterity.

Rosey's First Birthday!

What would be more fitting for our first post in our first blog than Rosey's first birthday? We couldn't think of anything else either. We had a blast. 7 of Rosey's little friends and 20 of her big friends came over to help celebrate! She enjoyed herself and loves all the presents that she got. Thank everyone who came or sent birthday wishes. The smile says it all... (more pics can be seen here)
